Joseph Mando, MD

Dr. Joseph Mando earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and pursued advanced fellowship training in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX.

I would say that I was always interested in science and found biology incredibly fascinating so I wanted to pursue a career in that realm. In high school, I was fortunate to be able to study a human cadaver and I became pretty fascinated with the idea of learning more about the human body. I also grew up around my family’s retail optical business which was in the same building as an Ophthalmology clinic. I was always around optics and the utilization of it to improve sight. My background and upbringing along with the fact that I wanted to be a surgeon, made Ophthalmology a perfect fit for me.

My profession is always changing. I appreciate learning about new surgical and technological advancements and being able to translate that into improving the vision and quality of life for my patients; always striving to remain on the cutting edge of Ophthalmology advancements to help new patients achieve their visual and lifestyle goals utilizing technological and surgical techniques.

I pride myself on efficiency both clinically and surgically. I personally do not want to wait for anything, so in return, I do not want patients to have to wait for me. That being said, I want our time together to be focused discussing your problem and your outcome goals through my surgical care. I go to great lengths to discuss surgical techniques and lens technology available in order for you to go about your life after surgery as you wish to see and perform.

When the work day is done I enjoy going home to my beautiful wife and daughter. The more efficient I run my practice the more time I get to spend doing the things I love with my family and you with yours.

As a PNW transplant I thoroughly enjoy being surrounded by nature; spending my time away from work running, hiking, fishing and gardening.
