Dr. Eliisa Strand

Dr. Strand recently completed her ophthalmology residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute, where she served as Surgical Chief Resident. She is excited to begin an Anterior Segment and Cornea Fellowship at Pacific ClearVision Institute this summer. Dr. Strand earned her Doctor of Medicine from Central Michigan University College of Medicine after graduating summa cum laude from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Spanish.

Dr. Strand’s academic interests include anterior segment surgery, ophthalmic education, and clinical research. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and presented nationally on various ophthalmic pathology. She is committed to mentorship, physician advocacy, and expanding access to high-quality eye care. During residency she was actively involved as a supervising resident at Indiana University’s student outreach clinic and was awarded Resident Volunteer of the Year by the medical student ophthalmology interest group for her involvement in providing ophthalmic care to underserved populations while teaching medical students essential clinical skills.

She has been recognized for her leadership, humanism, and service through honors including the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the Indiana University Department of Ophthalmology Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Award, and selection as an American Academy of Ophthalmology Mid-Year Forum Advocacy Ambassador. Outside of ophthalmology, she is a violinist and pianist and enjoys sharing the healing power of music through community performance. Her additional interests include cooking & baking, gardening, reading, and spending time outdoors. She is looking forward to being a part of and providing excellent ophthalmic care to the Eugene community.
