Robin Bautista, OD

Dr. Bautista became fascinated with Optometry when he got his first pair of eyeglasses at the age of seven. The idea that there was a solution to the problem of impaired vision fascinated him. This fascination continued through high school and college where he worked for a local optometrist learning the technical aspects of vision correction and vision problems.

“There are very few occupations that give you instant feedback on your efforts to help people.”

Robin E. Bautista, OD, a graduate of the Pacific University College of Optometry, then spent four years providing hospital-based eye health care in the United States Air Force, working closely with healthcare providers of all disciplines to enhance visual and overall health and performance and maintaining the high visual requirements of the pilots on the base. It was there he began to truly refine and hone his skills as an Optometrist. He has continued that service in the Oregon Air National Guard where he was recently promoted to Major. In addition to providing comprehensive medical eye examinations, Dr. Bautista served as Refractive Surgery Program Director and is experienced in post-operative LASIK care, fitting of specialty contact lenses, diagnosis, and management of ocular health conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and dry eye.

Eye care is an ever-changing profession where new techniques and equipment are consistently being introduced. Dr. Bautista enjoys these technical changes and stays up to date by attending industry conferences and current peer reviewed journals. He also enjoys the community that social media has afforded his profession. Through social media, he directly communicates with others in his profession and learns new trends and the very latest in eye care treatments and diagnostics.

Additionally, Dr. Bautista is involved in local community groups and national organizations where he travels to provide eye care services to those who may not normally have access to quality eye care. A recent trip took him to Caruthersville, Missouri where he assisted over 1000 people with their eye care needs, many of whom where impoverished.

“Vision is a huge part of how we live our daily lives. Improving the quality of life by enhancing vision has always been personally rewarding.”
